Udupi Bele Saaru


Ingredients:
                       Toor dal: 1/2 cup
                       Water: 3 cups
                       Sambar Powder:  1 tspn
                       Turmeric Powder: Pinch
                       Tamarind: 2 tbspn
                       Jaggery(grated): 1 tbspn
                       Salt to taste
                       Coriander leaves to garnish
                       Oil: 1 tbspn
                       Mustard seeds: 1/2 tspn
                       Cumin seeds:  1/4 tspn
                       Curry Leaves: 4-5 sprig
                       Asafoetida: Pinch
                       
Method:
                  1.  Pressure cook toor dal, turmeric in 3 cups of water.
                  2. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, jeera, Asafoetida and curry leaves.
                  3. Add pressure cooked dal, tamarind, salt and jaggery.
                  4. Add sambar powder. Boil for 5 mins.
                  5. Garnish with coriander leaves.
